Toyota EX-2 Concept

1969 was a good year for Toyota and its concept building department, not only did they showcase the EX-1 which lead to the design cues of the original Celica but they also showed this, the EX-2.

Now I’ve read it was either powered by a 350cc air-cooled 2 stroke engine or an full electric system, either way this was at the other end of the spectrum from the EX-1, designed to be fuel efficient, cheap and futuristic looking to cash in on the new micro car youth market. Looking at the styling, bar the huge lifting roof to get access, it’s not so dissimilar to the run of electric concepts being produced these days, so possibly this was a true look at the car of tomorrow.
