6000 SUX

With the new Robocop film currently in the cinemas and having gone back to watch the original thought it might be good to take a look at one of the cars of the future, the 6000 SUX. Seen in the film in an advert as well as being driven by the bad guys before being blown up!!!

First off there are a few debates going on around the name, 6000 SUX, one being that if read through squinted eyes it read GOOD SUX hence why only the bad guys drive it. The other one is it refers to the Pontiac 6000 the main competitor to the Ford Taurus, the car the police drive in the film. The car its self was a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a new fibreglass body applied for the film and I’m sure even that did better MPG than the advert showed at 8.2!!!!! For filming 2 complete cars were produced by Gene Winfield of Winfield Rod & Custom, love the asymmetrical rear lights

Today though the car of the future is looking a little bit unloved. If anyone has better picture os the car in its hey day then please get in touch.
