Jaguar Mark 2 Estate / Country

Now let’s just start be saying I really, really like this conversion. The way it’s taken that iconic styling and then grafted the rear on whilst retaining those perfect curves.

Now a little history the car was the idea of Mike Hawtorn who commissioned coach builders Jones Brothers to undertake the conversion. However following the death of Mike they continues to finish the car, calling it the “Mk2 Country”

Now in a strange turn of events Jaguar ended up using the car as fast assistance car for the factory racing saloon versions!!!!! Apart from that now been able to find out much about this one, so if you know anything please get in touch and let me know.

  1. We had this temporarily when I was about 4 years old. My father was the works engineer at Jaguar and was loaned this after an accident in our family car which at the time was either an Austin Princess or an Austin Maxi. I remember everywhere we went people took pictures of it. My elder sister was ill in hospital and missed most of the week or two we had it on loan
