That engine was the same 3ltr V8 as found in the 308 and Mondial, but had some tweaking done by non-other than Ducati!!! They took the base engine and re-engineered if for a smoother ride installing a new crankshaft, smaller valves and changing the firing order to get tit to purr rather than roar. It still produced 215bhp and would get you to 60mpg in 6.8s and onward to 149mph. Apart from the usual luxuries of the day this car was also fitted with a speed activated spoiler in the boot lid.
In total 3971 Ferrari powered saloons left the Turin factory between 1986 and 1992 over two Series, and the current prices mean it’s one of the cheapest ways drive a prancing horse powered car.
