Built in 1984 in collaboration between designer Leif
Mellberg (who was also the designer of Saab EV1 prototype) and Swedish car
magazine “Teknikens Varld“. It took a 900, shortened the chassis and cleaned
up those lines giving it a more custom look.

FEI X3
The X3 looks impressive, it’s even more impressive when you learn it was
built as part by students at School of Industrial Engineering (FEI) in São
Paulo, Brazil. It was showcased at the 1972 São Paulo
motor show to high acclaim.

1985 MG Midget Concept
In 1985 the MG Midget with its classic lines, had only been
out of production for 5 years when this concept was released. The brief was to
create a spiritual successor to that iconic car, however there’s always a
catch, it had to utilise as many existing parts as possible.

1977 AMC AM Van Concept
Okay it’s only a concept, built at 3/4 size, but just look
at it. It’s just everything about the 70’s at on 4 wheels. Oh and those wheels
all driven, add in the mix those “Turbo” stickers, porthole windows and “Vanning”
paint job and strips. It’s obvious what market AMC were after, young with
disposable income. As you’ll guess it didn’t get past this concept, after all
in 1977 with its more rounded shape it was already dated in the age of the
wedge.

Random Picture: "Lefty"
There are some car modifications that just scream out unsafe and un-necessary this is one from "back in the day", I just don't understand why it would be easier!!!!!

We're 6 today
Well we hit 6 years old today, and still finding interesting and unusual old and new cars to highlight to you and there's still a significant number still to bring you.
You may have noticed the number of posts a month has reduced recently, to be honest a change in jobs (we all have to have a day job and I also help run a UK national car club) I'd rather post up one a week rather than rush articles out.
The next year will the same as previous with many shows being highlighted and many, many more cars. If you know of something you think should be on here please just get in touch.

Maserati 5000 GT
With only 32 car built it’s surprising that it came with a
variety of body styles from various coachbuilders, namely Touring who built the
first two, then Carrozzeria Allemano who built a further 22. The rest of mainly
one-off builds also included Pietro Frua and Pinnafarina.

Austin Apache
A car based on the Austin 1300 but with the addition of a
larger boot and extended restyled front was built by Leyland South Africa for a
South African market. It’s used various parts from the before mentioned Austin
1300 as well as the Triumph 2000 and ended up being a similar size to the
Triumph Dolomite.

Rover P9
We’ve had several of Rovers "what could have been" prototypes on this site over
the years, this one though in 1969 is quite the departure.

Honda EZ 90 Cub
Just looking at this bike and you know its straight out of the early
90’s with its totally enclosing fairings and all that white. What we’ve got is
an update of the original Cub for the modern era, just a shame it was for off road use only.

Random Video: Electric Cars (1967)
Back in the mid 60’s there was a push for electric cars,
with Ford and BMC preparing concepts for the plug-in future that was only 5

Rover 75 Coupe
There are many, many concepts that were put forward that if put in to
production could have turned around the fortunes of Rover. This Coupe concept
from 1998 for the 75 is one of those cars and celebrated 100 years of the
marque.

Raymond Loewy Jaguar
It takes a lot of guts and commitment to take a brand new
Jaguar XK140, one of the most beautiful cars eve built, and restyle and re-body
it. However the car designing wing of the styling company Loewy were up to the
task. After all it had designed several Studabakers including the Avanti.
