2016 Manchester Bike Show

Now in its 5th year this show is well in to the swing of things the all the usual suspects in attendance, bike manufacturers, clothing, tools and of cause the bike clubs. However this year there feels like there’s been a shift, the clubs attending did the organizers proud with a massive variety of machinery.

Footman James Manchester Classic Car, Event City, Manchester

Last year’s show, if I'm being honest, was a little disappointing from a mix of cars point of view. Well this year this problem had been solved and full credit to the organizers for the effort in putting an awesome event together. Now because I don’t want to dwell on it, the only issue I had with the “classic” was the amount of modern vehicles on show. Now I’m not talking about the cars now verging on the 00’s (after all these are now 15 years old) but virtually brand new cars. I’m looking at the Civic Type R’s, Audi R8’s and other supercars. Right now that’s out of the way let’s get on with the show.

Scirocco Register 2015 National Meet

There’s one event in the year I cannot miss and this year it was essential I attend partly due to the fact I now I help run the Scirocco Register so I had a hand in arranging and promoting it!!!!! In fact it’s been part of my life, as with the others behind the scenes, for the last six months or so, with constant forum and social media updates to keep the momentum going.

Retro Show, Santa Pod

After getting up early on the Saturday morning and replacing the radiator and thermostat seal on my own retro machine since they failed the night before, I headed off for the 160 mile drive to join the rest of the Retrobeutes at the home of British drag racing Santa Pod for the Retro Show.

Ultimate Dubs 2015

An early start to a Sunday saw me heading down to the Telford Convention Centre for what’s deemed the opener for the Volkswagen show season, where the cars built over the winter months first see the light of day. Now this isn’t a show I’d been to before so I didn’t really know what to expect when I arrived at the already full car park at 8am!!!!

Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show

This show is huge, so huge that a single day is no longer enough to take it all on. Unfortunately one day is all I had so with a 6:00am start I set off for the Midlands and the NEC in Birmingham.

American Auto Club North West Meet, Krispy Kreme’s, Manchester

Well with the UK show season pretty much at an end and Sunday down to be dry and sunny (both in combination in the North of England in October is a rare thing) I headed over to the American Auto Club North West’s monthly meet at Krispy Kreme’s in Manchester with my daughter.

Footman James Manchester Classic Car, Event City

Well it’s that time of year with the show season coming to an end and most petrolheads need just one more weekend but with us now in September that is usually hit and miss with the rain!!!! Especially in Manchester.

So the chance to get to a show that the rain cannot, to pardon the pun, dampen must be on most peoples lists. Now for most tis would mean waiting till November and the beomouth that is the NEC show. But if you need a warm up act then the Footman James Manchester Classic Car may be for you.

Passion for Power, Tatton Park

This is a huge show and I was there for the whole of the first day on the Retrobeutes stand, which looking at the weather report would be the better of the two.

Scirocco National Meet, RAF Cosford, Telford

Well after getting up at 6:30am and looking out of the window at the deluge of rain I honestly thought that the National Meet would quiet literally be a washout. How wrong was I, the members of the Scirocco Register (a club now help run) came out in force despite the weather.

Scirocco Register National Meet

One event that I never miss and I'll be there in my Mk2 Scirocco on Saturday. If you're at a loose end then I would recommend you head over as they'll be upwards of 60 cars there-

James Martin’s Supercar Sunday, Great Northern Square, Manchester

When I found out about this event in the centre of Manchester and that renowned celebrity chef and all round petrol head James Martin was hosting it, I knew the cars would be awesome and I wasn’t disappointed.

Alltypes, Bodelwyddan Castle

With guaranteed good weather clubs and show cars descended on Bodelwyddan Castle for one of the best VW shows in the north, if not the UK. I was there representing the Scirocco Register with my trusty Mk2 so an early start was needed for a full day at the show.

St Asaph Car Show

It’s been a while since I’ve headed over to North Wales for this show, in fact the last time was in 2012, and with the Bank Holiday promising good weather I was looking forward to it. Most of the car shows that get featured on here are usually model or classic/retro orientated, this show though was purely a “car and bike” show which meant an attendance of more modern machinery.
