This caught my eye due to its resemblance to the Renault 900 concept that was built in the same year, with the forward control/ rear engine layout. This
though was built by styling house Ghia in 1959 and penned by stylist Tom
Tjaarda.
Let’s cut to the chase, this thing
is fitted with the same Ford Cleveland 5.7ltr V8 that was fitted to the
Pantera, with all of those 330 horses. That would have made this one very, very
fast four door when it debuted in 1971 as the Series 1.
Commissioned by Ford through their European design house in the late 1970’s to get into the wedge supercar market. Unfortunately this is as far as it got , although even at the time it was a little to much show car than Countach competitor. Powered from a F1 derived V8 mid mounted in its enclosed rear end. It was debuted in 1978. Definitely a car that is of its age with all the excess of the angles that made the wedge such a 70’s icon.
