The Piper GTT/P2, now these are essentially the same car with some tweaks to
the lights and engine between them. The one below seems to be a combination of
the two models with it having the square lights to the rear of the P2 but the
bonnet bulge, rather than an air scoop, of the GTT up front.
Piper Cars came out of the
Piper Cams company that produced racing upgrades, the GTT came about from being
asked to produce a sports GT car body and chassis to run Austin Healy Sprite mechanics and
it was debuted at the 1967 Race Car Show.

Ashley 1172 GT
Now let’s just start by saying that this was a kit car,
Ashley Laminates started producing the 1172 GT body roadster body in 1958 which
was design to fit on to a Ford 8 chassis and fitted with a sidevalve engine. In
1959 this was joined with a coupe body like the one below, which sat on a
strengthened Ford 10 chassis.

Lil Big Rig "Pete"
There must be that child in us all who would love to drive a
big rig, and not some modern cab over but the iconic rigs from our youth. We’re
talking Snowman’s Kenworth from Smokey and the Bandit here. But only a few of
us actually have a job that justifies a truck driving licence (in the UK this
is one expensive addition to get).

Ledl AS
Taking on the
same styling cues as the Nova and Avante as well as being VW Beetle based this
was a kit car offered by Gunter Ledl from Austria. Production started in 1981
with the car offered with a 4 cylinder Ford engine under the rear of that
fibreglass wedge body, producing about 100bhp. They were sold all over the
world but strangely due to the laws in Austria registering them there was very
difficult. In fact only 17 were sold to domestic customers out of the 249
manufactured up to 1987.Thursday, June 13, 2013
GTM Libra
At first glance I thought this was just a modern Mini based kit car due to its proportions. To an extent I was right, well its DNA goes back to the Mini, but this thing is all bespoke. GTM started with mini based kits. This though is all lightweight sports car with thoroughly modern construction that had 3 years of development in it designed for the "ultimate performance". It was built around a fiberglass monocoque tub that everything was bolted to, just like a Ferrari.

Mini Wildgoose
Wild is definitely the right description for this, anyone who decides to take a Mini van and turn it into a camper must be thinking outside of the box. The conversion kits were sold by a Sussex company during the 1960’s with a price tag of between £445-601 depending on size of kit etc. It was possible to buy a completed car ready to go!!!!!! It came with a 4 seater dinette in the back which would convert in to a 6” bed. I’ve attached the brochure for it and as you will see it looks surprisingly spacious. But with all that extra weight and only a 850cc engine as standard the suggested cruising speed of 70mph, seems quite optimistic.
